Please Join Heid Music & Madison Magazine for an evening of classical music and conversation. 


Join host Greg Hettmansberger, Madison Magazine’s classical music expert, for a lively conversation, live classical music performances and light hors d’oeuvres. 


At 7 pm, enjoy a conversation with Greg that will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the Madison Symphony Orchestra and music director, John DeMain, who is the subject of Greg’s upcoming book. Greg will also share information about Madison’s best kept music secrets, so you can seek them out after the event. Greg will

answer you questions, so ask him anything! 


At 8 pm, enjoy a live musical performance by Marika Fischer Hoyt, a modern and baroque violinist and founding member of Ancora String Quartet. She will be accompanied by a pianist. Musician Q&A to follow their performance. 


At 8:30 pm, enjoy light refreshments and one-on-one conversation with Greg and the musicians. 


Who Is Greg Hettmansberger?


Greg Hettmansberger has been a freelance music writer and features contributor since his first piece was published by the Los Angeles Times in 1988. He moved to Madison in 2001 and was the band director at Abundant Life Christian School through 2008. Hettmansberger is a longtime contributor to Madison Magazine and has covered the classical music scene extensively. He has spent six years interviewing John DeMain and other principal figures in the maestro's life for a biography about the musician, music director of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Madison Opera. Hettmansberger’s monthly classical music articles can be found on madisonmagazine.com, and he also publishes other musings on his personal blog, whatgregsays.wordpress.com.
